Cambridge and Peterborough Young Farmers clubs

Cottenham

Cottenham Young farmers are based about 7 miles from the city of Cambridge and normally meet on a Wednesday evening at the village college in Cottenham. While the Cottenham Young Farmers club is very well known throughout the area it was actually closed down for around 5 years, re-opening again at the end of 2005.

The club has been a story of success while many other young farmers clubs are closing down throughout the country we are doing very well with over 30 members and after a successful first year we are hoping 2007 will be even better.

Cottenham membership is mainly in the junior (aged 10-17) and intermediate (18-21) categories with our youngest member being 14.  We have a very mixed club with the boys only slightly outnumbering the girls. We are a competitive club and have helped Cambridgeshire as a county to compete again in eastern area and national competitions that the county had stopped doing several years ago.

Our members are very diverse in what they do, while Cottenham is a rural village, many of Cottenham Young Farmers aren’t employed by or directly related to farming. Find out more about us in our news pages, we like to keep you up to date on what has happened recently and news from this membership year which runs from the 1st September 2006 – 31st of August 2007.
